El Critico:
6, 999,999,989 to go
Do you really think this is a new thing? There are deportations and arrest every day. We know that. Is a risk that most immigrants are prepared to take.
Are you going to have a party? Can we go?
who knows, instead of rounding them up like cattle, we just have them go home all on thier own. If no one will hire them, they will not settle here. Another favorite story in the news, a home builder who KNOWINGLY hired illegal aliens, got fined $2MILLION dollars. There is an incentive not to break the law! Only a start, but a good start.

According to a VERY reliable source (whom unfortunately I cannot name) a certain homebuilder is STILL using illegal alien labor. The illegals now come in on buses at night and work INSIDE the new homes sanding drywall until sunup. When the regular crews show up at 7am, the illegals are gone, but it's very obvious that SOMEONE has worked all night. If you pop by one of these jobsites at 3am, you will see sheets covering the windows, but lots of activity going on inside.
Jail time will begin to be a deterrent, IF it is fairly and equitably handed out. The problem with THIS PARTICULAR homebuilder is that three construction foremen "took the fall" and the company itself was untouched. I would assume in this situation that the foremen were rewarded for their "loyalty." The owners of the company did not suffer, therefore they have not changed their policies regarding their "illegal" workforce.
It is very interesting to me that several of the posters on this Forum make NO distinction between LEGAL immigrants and ILLEGAL immigrants. To all those who have come here LEGALLY (including all of our ancestors) it is a real slap in the face to have dirty, disease-ridden criminals pouring over our borders claiming that they have some sort of "right" to be in our country.
If the illegals would like to go home, fill out the proper paperwork, wait the proper period, pay the appropriate fees, have a health screening, and then try it again the legal way, I would be the first one to welcome them to their new home (before April 15, when I will help them pay their taxes). Until they learn to play by the rules, their criminal activity should NOT be rewarded with free health care, free schools for their children, and enjoying the benefits of living in the US without helping to pay for the upkeep through State and Federal taxes.

BTW, even the "documented" immigrants have figured out how NOT to pay federal taxes - they all claim 8 dependents so that no Federal tax is taken out of their paycheck. Since no income tax is withheld, they don't bother to file the tax return unless they want to claim EIC. But that only works if the dependent children have Social Security numbers, and few of them do.
If an employer wanted to help stop this fraud, they would require the names and Social Security numbers of each dependent in THIS country - dependents back in Mexico should not count.
Another problem is FRAUDULENT documents. Just the other night I saw on the news that 3 more Latinos had been arrested for running a FAKE ID ring. They also had drug and prostitution charges filed against them. What a lovely group has found its way into OUR COUNTRY. Of course, they wouldn't be able to set up forged document rings without the aide of the criminal element already inside the US. Criminals will always be more than happy to take advantage of ILLEGAL ALIENS.
Wise up, go home, start over and DO IT RIGHT THIS TIME. Stop being taken advantage of by criminals, both YOURS and OURS.

Unfortunately, many of the people coming through Mexico into the U.S. and Canada are not "always people from Mexco," but are criminals, from as far away as Colombia. We are seeing an increase of drugs, money laundering, profitering, graft, fraud, human trafficking, disease, and the raping of our economy because of the propaganda that the Mexican Government has been feeding to their people and to our government.
Mexico wants to rid of these people,
Mexico neither loves nor welcomes illegals. Mexico has very strict immigration laws and treats any illegal alien as a criminal, as well as, any person or persons who assists, hires, or protects such people, and they are prosecuted, deported, or put in jail. Mexican jails are not "user friendly." You can find the Mexican immigration laws on the Internet.
Outside of the tourist areas, and I dont't like tourist places in a foreign country, there are very few places where a menu, bathroom facilities, etc. are in English or any other foreign language.
Also, in Mexico, a non-ncitizen is not welcome to give advice, opinions or interfere in anyway about social or government issues.
Propaganda and more propaganda!

Sorry, I'm following up on my previous post concerning the topic of language.
When I was a student, for anyone, who was aiming for a career in business needed Spanish as a second language.
Now, it seems that the preferred and most common spoken language for business and in the world is neither English or Spanish, but Chinese Mandarin, English second, and Spanish is fourth.

Well legally or illegally we are here, and we will still be here because you know what, like it or not, the US needs us, otherwise who will bill the wall??????? ;-) you exphoneman or you aimhi869, after you finish you 8-hour shift at your Blue Collar Company. I am sure you have some Hispanics employed and probably not paying them minimum wage ah?
And please Hispanics are not only Mexicans, this is a basic 4th grade information, everyone that speak Spanish is a Hispanic, and just for your information we are also AMERICAN, do you know why?????? because we are from South or Central America so guess what if this is AMERICA then I have all the right like others from Central and South America to be here in AMERICA.

Rude is you coming to a forum design for Spanish and start writing in English. I’m so impress for your ability to communicate with people around the world, maybe now, you can start to listen to what they have to say, you might learn a thing or two. I’m a first class citizen, and that is because who I am, not because the language that I speak. I’m very proud of where I come from. |

Isn't it wonderful that, only in America -- can someone come here illegally and insult the legal citizens? You know, the people they want sympathy from, the people who can LEGALLY vote whether an illegal can stay or not?
BTW, I'm planning a trip to Montreal. I'm learning French. I'm only going to be there a few days.
I was taught "when in Rome," but I was taught better. I was also taught better manners than to insult my hosts
BTW, to the one who said to the effect -- if you were hungry, you would do whatever you had to do to feed yourself and your child.....
Stealing is stealing. Its still a felony. You're stealing MY money from MY Social Security funds. I need money too. Its why I worked. Its why my husband has worked all his life. Its why all these hard-working Americans are mad. WE worked for a living, to build up social security. But, illegals who get SSI and Welfare suck that money dry.
YOU did not earn that money. You did nothing to deserve that money. YOU are a big thief.
You want to come here? Do it legally. There are laws here. You want my sympathy? Stop calling me and my fellow Americans names.

panadero:
As far as I can see, you just join this discussion. Nobody has insulted you in any way. We are here to discuss an issue as adults, so welcome to the discussion.
Inferring I'm not an adult is an insult.
"As far as {I} can see,"
I have been lurking for quite some time. And I have read all the posts. All the way back to August.
Calling "ALL" Americans "YUTZ's" is calling me a name. I am an American. I was born here as were my parents, as their parents before them. I have family who fought wars and died in wars to keep this country free, so that illegals can scurry into MY country, steal our money, rob us, rape us, abuse us , give us diseases that were eradicated decades ago, steal our jobs and call us names.
Like it or not, I am a legally registered voter with a legally registered vote. Insulting me isn't going to make me feel warm and fuzzy about a people who think they have a legal right to sneak into my country, steal from me, and insult me. I remember stuff like that when I go to the poll.

peace2u:Cybercat, I referred to myself as a "yutz." I can admit that I am sometimes clueless, but not to being " ignorant."
Sorry, it was the link usage that confused me.
BTW, you are not a yutz nor clueless.
Having said that, I still stand by what I said earlier. No one has a right to enter a country illegally and expect to have rights. You have to earn rights. We of the United States of America had to, our children are defending our rights this very minute.
And, if you are here legally, you should be paid minimum wage. Its the law.
If you are here illegally, and you work for less than minimum wage, you are stealing from the citizens of this country. The minimum wage laws are on the books for a reason.
You would know this if you took the time to learn our history. Labor laws.
There are reasons why laws exist -- even to protect you. Think about that. You cheat not only yourself, you're cheating everyone.

BTW - I believe heard on Channel 12 the "mini epidemic" of hepatitis right here in Cincinnati at the restaurant in Mt Adams was traced back to an immigrant working in the kitchen. I do not know if he was legal or illegal. Can anyone provide a link to that story?
Why is there not more of an outcry against these restaurants where the underpaid immigrants are spreading disease through their poor hygiene practices?
Are the signs in the bathrooms requiring all employees to wash their hands before returning to work posted in languages other than English? I would be willing to expend some public funds to get these signs in a variety of languages.
