I'm not too far from Cheviot myself, hopefully we stay cold and snowy tomorrow.  The rain just ruins it!

It may just be me, but looking at the radar and watching how the bulk of the moisture is moving, it appears as if it could skirt us from the south and not ride up to the north enough for us to get hit "squarely."

    Thoughts?

You can't take a storm, pick it up, and move it northeast.  The atmosphere is a multi-dimensional fluid.  This is a complex storm with a northern stream and southern stream system coming together and interacting.  There really is nothing to what you are seeing right now.

Case in point Friday night.  I spent a couple hours outside playing in the snow with my little girl who loves it (I'm raising her right!).  When I cam in I looked at radar and it looked like the snow was done.  In fact, apparently Horstmeyer said as much on 12+7.  However, the NWS discussion said the models were showing a deformation axis developing.  I told my wife I doubted it.  I woke up the next morning and wala:  deformation axis and winter wonderland.  6.6 inches here last weekend to be doubled??? this week.

All snow for all IN counties or just the northern IN counties?  I'm down in the SE corner of Dearborn County close to the river.  I was amazed on Friday in the difference in snowfall accumulation I saw on my drive from Milan/Moores Hill down to our place in the South Hogan Creek valley.  We received significantly less snow down here than the folks just up on top of the ridge.  I'm wondering if we might see some mixed precipitation at our place this time, too.

Accumulations were depressed in part last weekend by elevation.  Temperatures were borderline and valleys were warmer.  Louisville has issued warnings for 4-6 so I doubt you'll be left out this time.

I love reading all your posts!! Can't wait for it to get started!  At least in this forum I can admit that...I have plenty of family members who don't like the snow.

I can't disagree with you on that one rhodesman.

I'm still kind of shocked we are still in a watch.  Looks like pink all north, west, and south of us.  Shouldn't be long now, unless they are still questioning the amount of mixing in.

I think all IN counties will be all snow!!  New models are supporting snow for all Oh counties except brown, adams and on east.  Northern ky could mix in some rain but not for long. ( 2 or 3 hours maybe)

Re: WINTER STORM UPDATE (MIDNIGHT MONDAY)

Okay, we know the snow is coming and impressive accumulations are likely but how about some food for thought? The forecast reveals high winds could be a factor for us Tuesday night. I read on Accuweather that gusts could reach 50mph.

Could we be looking at potential Blizzard Warning criteria Tuesday into Tuesday night? Could be something to watch.

Blizzard or blizzard-like.  This will be nasty, state-wide.

What is ILN when referring to who will issue the warnings and such. Does that mean the Wilmington weather service?

ILN is the abbreviation for the NWS office in Wilmington.
