As of 8:00am a storm total of 4.56 inches of rain was recorded at my location (western Liberty Township, Butler County, Ohio)

2.81 inches was recorded in 1 hour (approximately midnight to 1:00am)

8.48"/hr Rain Rate measured at 12:05am

Interesting to see how small distances can make a difference.  In Sharonville overnight we recorded 1.40" which came mostly from the line of storms moving through around 2am.  Up to that point we had hardly rec'd any precip.  Just to our north, there were 4"+ of rain from those stagnant storm cells which were barely moving and subsequently allowed for multiple cells to re-develop and follow the same paths.  Take a look at the radar estimated precip....

My pool water level is 3 inches above the skimmer line which tells me at least 4 inches fell in Fairfield between 11pm and 2 am. We had some pebble sized hail. Several lightning strikes were continuous and point blank. Hamilton near High St got hammered. Power is still out up there. Large branches, trees, and debris are on the side streets. 

Here in West Chester, I'd venture a guess that we got about 4.5"- 5" altogether between 11pm - 3:30am.  The lightning was like a constant barrage of fireworks exploding overhead.  I've seen frequent lightning flashes before, but nothing like that.  It was literally non-stop.

My mom lives in West Hamilton - on a hill, at that - and she had a few inches of water standing in her yard, as well as a couple of inches in her basement when the sump pump was overloaded.  She still has no power.

"FairfldBur" & "trebor" you should consider joining CoCoRaHS (Community Collaborative Rain, Hail & Snow Network), they are always looking for more volunteers.
They use a standardized rain gauge with readings taken each morning around 7:00am. You can find more info at http://www.cocorahs.org/

"wxenthus", I saved a screen shot of the doppler estimated storm total via Weather Underground, looks like a very accurate estimate. Hamilton definately got the worst of it!
