Looking at both the 12Z NAM and GFS, both models continue to trend colder than past runs. That means a little more snow possible for parts of the area. Winter Storm Warnings have already been issue just to our South and Southwest across the Louisville and Lexington area. Snow is expected to move into the Cincinnati area after midnight, particularly around 2am-3am, from SW to NE. Snow accumulation will already be in full force for the AM rush hour. Areas from Cincinnati and points west and northwest will see all snow for this event. However, if you go from Cincinnati and points Southeast, snow may mix with a little bit of sleet or just plain rain.
Both model are in agreement with more snowfall than past model runs as well. Here are some early thoughts. These will likely change of course.
2"-4" for our SE counties with a little bit of a mix.
4"-7" for the central counties including Cincinnati, could see a brief mixing period during the day on Tues, but will be short-lived.
7"-9" in our NW counties of Fayette, Union, Frankin and even Northern Butler Counties. ALL snow, not mixing expected. Can't rule out some isolated 10" amounts up there.
Stay tuned for the very latest on the upcoming winter storm.
