Re: WINTER STORM UPDATE (MIDNIGHT MONDAY)

Something that has come to my attention... The upper level low that is poised to move in for tues. night into wednesday may be a bit more vigorous than orginally thought becuase it was supposed to be coming south east. At this point it is moving due south and will round the bend and come through east to west, which to me means it is digging more and be a bit stornger than orginally pegged. Something small but could make a big difference.

This MAY warrant higher totals. but I am just not sure at this point. I will examine a fiew things and get back to you...I am going to consult a Pro for a good answer.

Re: WINTER STORM UPDATE (MIDNIGHT MONDAY)

The problem for schools (in my mind north of cincy) is not necessarily the 1-3 inches expected for the morning runs, but the thought of what to do mid-day and afternoon, when more snow is forecast.   There doesn't appear to be any pause until around dinner time.

It would be one thing if the snow dumps and then we deal with cleanup.  It is another when you could potentially be launching your kids into unknown and worsening conditions.   My guess is that the majority of schools will close if the storm shows teeth in the 4am to 7am range.

Just a thought in looking at the upper level low as it passes....

Are the computer models adding lake effect moisture to the model?   If so, we could end up with far less actual moisture to work with, as I'd assume significant portions of the great lakes are now frozen.

    Any thoughts?

I wish radars didn't suck so bad at picking up snow! Wilmington and Louisville radars both have us covered in light snow right now, but there isn't a flake outside my Clifton apartment yet. Any guess where the snow/virga line currently is?

Ok, Tim H. Agrees with my statement but it will be a nowcasting decision to be made later on tomorrow. So it is a possibility.

30 miles north east of louisville from what I can tell.

Wanna hear something sad?  I was making a deposit at the Kemba branch in Queensgate and thought I saw a flurry.  Then I realized it was an ash from my cigarette and was quickly disappointed.  I will check back in about a half an hour and see what I can see here in Oakley.  (Please don't yell at me over smoking.  I just went over nicotine receptor's in school)  I thought it was a funny story to share...............Now to do some Pharmacy calculations homework whilst I wait and hope I don't have to turn it in at 9 am.
