    Tell Us What You Think

Today, Clermont County Prosecutor Don White told Local 12 that he does not plan to file criminal charges against Brenda Nesselroad-Slaby.  Slaby's 2 year old daughter Cecilia died when Brenda forgot and left her in a hot car at the Glen Este Middle School on August 23rd.  The prosecutor says the facts of the case and the law dictate that Cecilia's death was an accident but not reckless.  What do you think of the decision?

Email to Local 12 from "Shawn and Jennifer":

    To whom it may concern:

i guess it does indeed have an advantage to know people or be a somewhat political person.  It shows in this case.  The Prosecutor just gives up.  An accident huh.  Well i am sure that drunk driver didnt mean to hit little miss bobby jo with his car but he is still doing 15 years behind bars for unvoluntarily manslaughter.  This is a big fat joke.  The lady should get what she deserves.  An accident?  How in the heck do you forget that you have a friggin kid that is in the car?  How about child endagerment?  Does she have anymore kids?  If she does she should not be allowed  to have sole custody in the event of ANOTHER ACCIDENT!!!!!  i think that is a fair statement.  But we the PEOPLE would like to take this time to send a big thank you for your wasting of our time for this case.  Hopefully your wallet just got fat because you had to get paid for this one.  What a corrupt world that we live in to believe that if it is an accident you get nothing.  Well i know now if i ever would want to ( just using this as an example!!!! ) take someone out ( kill them ) i will lock them in the car and just say it was an accident.  I am sure i will get off.  If i dont i will just pay the prosecutor just like this one.  May GOD have pitty on her sole because i dont!!!!!

may GOD BLESS that CHILD that SUFFERED in that car with blisters on her body and basically got TORTURED.

Re: Tell Us What You Think

I'm totally stunned. I mean she put the stupid doughnuts right next to her daughter then went about a mile took out one batch which was right next to her daughter and took them into the school. She then returned to the car and got another batch of doughnuts which were right next to her daughter and took those in. I mean if her life is so hectic that 3 trips with doughnuts sitting right next to her child and she did not even notice the child her priorities are really off base. I really hate it when people use the "race card" to justify bad actions but I have asked myself if the same result would have occurred if the mother lived in OTR.

Re: Tell Us What You Think

I have 4 kids and what I want to know she going to be made to step down from in position in the school. As a mother I dont wannt my kids being around a woman that can leave her child in a hot car for 8 hours and claim it was an accident. If that is the case then what accidents can happen  in the school that she will not be responcible for. I have never forgot about my child. Not for even a sec I am also a working mother. My kids are the first thing on my mind in the morning and the last thought at night and all day long. They are all I think about, Are they okay, have they eaten, and the list goes on and on. The fact is my kids never leave my thoughts no matter how busy I am. There are people who get charges on them for not putting there kids in a seat belt, but she can leave her child in an over 118 degree car for 8 hours and she has done nothing wrong. What is wrong with this world this child was a helpless baby that looked at her mother to take care of her and to make sure she is safe. But not her mother she thought it is okay to just forget about her. WOW. Thanks to the people who decided that this childs life didnt matter by not charging the only person in this world who was choosen to care for this child. Thanks Clermont County Prosecutor Don White!! You have choosen to make this childs life not matter.

Re: Tell Us What You Think

Good thing it wasn't a dog. She'd have been held without bond and actually spent some time in jail. Looks like Clermont County is the place to get away with murder. Look at Marcus. Amy Baker walked.  At least Kentucky is trying to fry her butt.

Is there something wrong with this picture in society today.

    Makes me absolutely sick.

Re: Tell Us What You Think

All I can say is that it's too bad Cecilia wasn't holding the donuts that "mom" was able to remember to stop for.  If she had been, she might not have been forgotten.  How you can remember to pick up treats for your co-workers and forget your child, I just don't know.  We all get caught up in our jobs and balancing work with being a parent is sometimes a tough act, but forgetting your child should never be considered an "accident".  Maybe I'll forget to renew my drivers license and see if I can get out of the ticket by saying it was an accident.  That would never fly, but it works if I allow my child to be burned alive in a hot car.

I WOULD LIKE TO PUT MR. DON WHITE IN AN SUV FOR 8 HRS AND SEE WHAT HIS PERPECTIVE OF THIS SITUATION IN AN 100 DEGREE  SITUATION AND SEE IF THIS WOULD CHANGE HIS MIND? I AM SURE IT WOULD! BUT THEN AGIAN WHHHHHHHHO IS DON WHITE            JENNIFER

    Compassion for others

First off I think that Don White made the best choice in this matter. This isn't like a case of drunk driving, because a drunk driver knows that he is drinking, he never forgets that he is drunk he knows the risks of drinking and driving. Brenda Nesselroad - Slaby is a good person. She made a tragic mistake, but she is human just like the rest of us. I cannot believe how many people out there are so quick to judge. Nobody can say they wouldn't make the same mistake. I don't care who you are, nobody is perfect and no one can predict the future. There is a huge difference between people who make a mistake and do something by accident and a cold blooded killer who planned to kill their child. Brenda Slaby is not a murderer, she is a good mother and citizen who made a mistake that she will have to live with for the rest of her life. She is no better or worse than anyone else on this Earth. Don White made this decision based on the facts, not based on her financial or professional status. It is hard for people to accept that something like this can happen, but it can. So instead of spending your time and energy judging someone you do not even know, turn around and pay attention to your own children. Try and teach them not to judge others and how to have compassion for others, not hatred.

Re: Tell Us What You Think

This Prosecutor made the correct decision. He could have tried to make a name for himself but he didn't. Nothing the courts could have done will compare to what this poor woman has gone through.  This was a horrible accident and should be treated as such.

For those of you who want a pound of Ms. Slaby's flesh, shame on you. Unless you've never made a mistake, stop judging her. Accidents and mistakes come in all sizes and who knows what's right around the corner for any of us.

And for the one who compared this to a drunk driver in an 'accident':  What is so accidental about sucking down a bunch of alcohol and then deciding to get behind the wheel of a car?

I truly hope God blesses the Nesselroad-Slaby family and gives them the strength that they will need to get through this.

Re: Tell Us What You Think

The mother should be charged.  After all, she is sole person responsible for the death of that child.  Let's take another approach - suppose, just suppose, the mother had remembered to take the child to the baby sitter.  The baby sitter has some errands to run and she does so with the child in the car and, for whatever reason, forgets the child is in the car for 8 hours and she dies.  Can the Clermont County Prosecutor then say that he would not have charged the baby sitter?  He says that he has studied the law and found "accidents" can not be prosecuted in Ohio so I am assuming that he wouldn't charge the baby sitter either, huh?  Yeah, right!!!  That baby sitter would have been charged before the story even broke on the news.  So, he's not making sense to me.  How is that a mother has LESS responsibility to her child than a BABY SITTER.  That mother had complete responsibility of her child while she was in her custody.  If you remove the mother from the equation, the child would STILL be ALIVE!!!

Re: Tell Us What You Think

I want to believe that this was a terrible accident, the mother has to live the rest of her life knowing she was responsible for her daughters death. I feel there should be some punishmet such as child endangerment or abandament- she did cause a death.  If there are other childen she should be put on probation or monitored at the least. My heart goes out to the child and her family.

Just give them a notorized legal document to kill is what has happened here.  The number of so called accidents will definately increase.

Re: Tell Us What You Think

I think that this case should not have been deemed an "accident" What kind of lives do we lead that we forget our children. Especially forgetting that we have left our children in the car!! I have a 1 year old and a 14 year old, never has my life been too hectic or overwhelming that I don't put the kids first and foremost! Whenever I am around my car I check my seats. I know where my kids are and what I have to do with them and when I have to do it. I never just simply "forget" And if she forgot to drop the child off at a babysitter, why wouldn't the babysitter have called??? I am sick to my stomach to think what that poor child went through being locked in that car!!! And in my opinion this is far from being an "accident"
