    Steve Horstmeyer

Ok, I always watch 12 in the morning before going to school.  I guess I must have missed a day.  Where did Steve Horstmeyer go????  I can't find anything anywhere.  I really enjoyed him in the morning. He and Bob H. were a riot.

    Just wondering.

    Re: Steve Horstmeyer

It would be really great if someone would announce when they are leaving. I have watched for years and the morning program is my favorite. My daughter and I watch every morning and have wondered what happened to Steve but assumed he was on vacation.  It is the same with Dana Eubanks. I had no idea what happened to her on the 12:00 broadcast.

I understand that people change jobs, but when they are basically in your home every day, it is nice to know what happened to them when they leave. It would be courteous to inform your viewers.

Channel 12 did a tribute to Steve on his last day on our morning shows... I believe there was a cake and everything.  Steve has been off the air since the end of March... I think his last day was March 31.

I saw Steve's last weather forcast for channel 12, yes, there was a cake and if I remember correctly, picts taken over the years (wow, were any of us that young?) I am saddened to see him leave the morning news show, he brought a special something, something to the cast. John Gumm is a good man...he has very large shoes to fill, there is faith he can do it :)

     Opinion....

I agree..I grew up with Steve.. I would have liked to have seen his last day.. Evertything was so vague! Makes you wonder what really went on behind the scenes to make him leave in the first place!!!

I, also, was shocked that Steve was no longer at CH12 and  thought the sudden departure  was quite  strange and secretive.  I guess it's just one more of life's little mysteries.   Maybe, Steve just needed a change.  Good luck to him.

    I also loved Steve Horstmeyer.

His intelligence was never in question.

I just adored his interaction with audience and peers.

I will miss him and can honestly say that I am not drawn to the AM show with John. I am looking for another channel that may bring me to attention.

If you let him go at channel 12 to downsize you really missed the boat.

    Mike,

Steve leaving was 100% his decision and his alone.  He had been doing this shift for 19 years and it is tough getting up at 1:30 in the morning for that long.  It wears on you...

So, when someone comes along and offers you a better job with better hours, it looks good.  And it looked good enough for Steve to take.  We were shocked and saddened he left.  But we wish him the best.

    John

    Charleen,

I'm sorry you feel this way and hope you'll give me a chance.  After all, I grew up watching Steve and he has always been one of my favorites as well.  As you can imagine, it's been a pretty tough situation for me to be unexpectedly thrown into.

    All the best,

    John

Well said John!  I too miss Steve and was saddened to see him go, but I have watched you on Ch12 for the past couple years and am more than willing to give you a chance.  Yes, you do have big shoes to fill, but I am sure that Steve is rooting for you also.  I wish him the best in everything that he goes on to do.  I do enjoy listening to you and Herzog in the morning (but honestly, NOBODY should have that much energy and pep at 5:45 AM!!  I guess Steve left his supply of apple fritters and Mountain Dew for you!).  Keep up the good work and dont take it personally when people make negative comments.  It is hard for people to accept change.

He did leave me ONE Diet Mountain Dew...I tried it..liked it, and I've consumed two cases since. It helps with the morning "pep".  :-)

Thanks for the nice comments...I plan on continuing to do things my way and to keep being me.  However, I may not be on the shift permanently...that is for the station to decide.  Either way, I'm having a good time and enjoying every minute.
