I think that we need to get the homeless off the street and get them a place to live and start caring a little more for them and the seniors of the community.  We need to stop making big staduims and start putting money were it should go.  God bless the homeless and the seniors of our communities.

Most definitely. We do have a homeless problem here in Cincinnati.  Everyone wants to turn their heads and ignore it.  There are not enough safe houses for the people that need them.  When alot of the people that are incarcerated, get out, they have no place to go and wind up back in jail for failure to do something that was required of them to stay out of jail.  The released incarcerated persons in our community are homeless most of the time when they get out. 

The City of Cincinnati and suburbs do not have enough housing to assist those that are trying but do not have the income to afford to continue to pay the high cost of rent.  There are alot of parents and grandparents - that are raising their grandchildren - that do not want to raise these children around violence and drugs.  Grandparents take a set back in income when they decide to take custody of their grandchildren to protect them from the life they had with their parents. 

This is something to think about.

Many "homeless" are on the streets because they WANT to be, many "homeless" are on the streets because the have left the place they used to live (social services), many of the "homeless" are on the streets because the are mentally ill.

There have always been the "homeless" only they were called "HOBOS" until they became a political football.

If illegal aliens are able to find work, then the "homeless" can find work. Not to work is a personal choice. Living on the street is also a personal choice.

 

My daughter works and has worked since she was sixteen years old, and she is living in a car because there's no place that will 'take her in' without her paying a ridiculous amount of money to get moved in. Housing costs are unreasonable, and so is a deposit here for this and there for that. There are people homeless by choice; but there are many who are homeless because the costs are too high -- not the cost of normal every day expenses, the moving in costs. Gas prices this last two years has put a lot of people out because they can't afford to support a home and a car and they need their car to get to their jobs.

 

It's not so easy to get a job, just because you want one.

Housing costs today are definitely unreasonable, and I believe there are some people, who are homeless because they want to be, but there many people, who for various reasons would have been able to afford housing 10 or 15 years ago, but cannot do so today.

I was a divorced mother, with no child support, trying to have a home and meet the expenses of raising a child, and had to deal with increasing costs of food, etc. The best way I could think of was to have a full-time job and also to buy a small apartment building.

Honestly, I was taken advantage of because I felt sorry for people.  Just to survive and pay the bills for the damage and theft that some people did, plus the insurance and taxes, I was forced to increase the deposit and rent for people renting an apartment.  You could not imagine some of the messes I had to clean up.

Many a time, I went without necessities to pay bills.  I would never repeat that experience. 

 

It's another example of how the 'bad' make it difficult for the 'good' I do understand the costs of repair, upkeep, insurance, and maintenance, and those costs CAN BE unreasonable, too. Even when they are reasonable, they can be an unexpected and unbudgeted-for expense and kind of pass along the financial problems to the next 'victim'.

It's not a problem with any easy answers, whether those answers are slanted for the positive or for the negative.

I responded to the post that insinuated people are homeless because they won't get a job. That's too simple as well as being wrong. Maybe some people are homeless because they CAN'T get a job. And maybe one reason they can't get a job is because they have no permanent address, therefore appearing impermanent to those who want to hire long term workers.

The 'homeless' ,'blacks', the 'mentally ill' , single parents -- hey, these are all individual persons, so don't dump them all into a collective trashcan and decide what 'they' are or aren't. Everyone has a story.

Every time I see a homeless person I say There but for the grace of GOD go I,My wife and I are raising three grsndchildren, We have had them since they were born.The oldest one is 12, I have worked since I was abt 16.  I had to retire abt a year ago,I lost my health and sometimes i blame all the stress that I have had.I almost died abt two years ago and I believe that i didnt because oe the grandkids,Someone has to provide for them. we are not homeless but just one check away.There is a way to make it if you try.I see people who have smokes, beer and all kinds of things, but they cant pay rent or buy food and complain all the time abt the shape they are in, one guy had a job but would only work 2 days a wk. He said anymore time and it would stop his section8. True some people are homeless becaus they want to be others are becaus of other things, but you have to try and find out all you can abt what you can do to change things.

homelessness is a symptom of our society's greed and incompassion.  Lets be real how often do you set around and think one day I want to try to be homeless it seems like fun sleeping in the extreme cold and extreme heat.  Unable to get a job to eat, wear clean clothes.  The only thing you can thing about is were to eat and sleep.  What kind of a life is that.  Its not even about poor management of money.  It's more like lack of education. Lack of support and the way people view people with mental illness.  Our society has lost compassion.  Did they forget that we are all brothers and sisters.  That one persons suffering can be our own desiney one day.  We live in a country with an estimated 304million people if everybody donated one or two dollars a week just think how many homeless people we can help or donated a 99 cent bag or carrots how many meals that can be made off of that.  Untill one day it happens to them or a loved one.  Money has hardened our hearts.  People be aware of how hard your hearts become with the housing reposetion crisis it could be anyone of us next. 

 

tell me about it! they would try to con you into getting the utilitys in your name,then quit paying rent or they would just move  and leave you with a lot of trash.they were filthy.

Personly i think that a reply like that should not be posted. And in fact i hope it happens to you! Becuase people like you are the problem for others seeking help.Thay are so embarest to help themselfs. but dont, and end up dead for no reason.some peole are good and some are bad welcome to earth..get a life! and leave the homeless alone.And get your own suitcase and put a pack of mind your oun buisness in it!!!!   eddie

Then you should not have put ypurself out there, its your own falt and if thay were living with you your just as filthy as thay are so stop putting people down. it might happen to you!
