    VORTEX 2

Anybody following the VORTEX 2 field study this month.

It is a team of more tan 100 chase vehicles going across the plains this month studying tornadoes. MOre specifically why and how they form.

Your thoughts and comments on the chase?

Had classmates who worked for VORTEX 1.  They loved it.  James, our morning weather producer, is out there chasing right now, not with VORTEX, but he's been near them.

We were all fairly close to Vortex2 last night near Silverton, TX, close to the Caprock. I did see one Vortex 2 vehicle.  Wouldn't be surprised  if I saw more later today.

I would love to be a storm chaser, but I bet my insurance company frowns on that sort of thing!

Just don't tell them.  They don't need to know!

I feel the same way. I have not really chased but followed storms locally but i bet nothing compares to going out on the plains and seeing just a monster wedge tornado in an open field.

I haven't seen a touchdown yet, just a few funnels. However, I've seen several storms with great potential down here, which is something not seen very often back in Cincy.

As much as I would love to be out there chasing (I think) I'm sort of glad I'm not. Take care and happy hunting!

I have to agree with everyone else, as much as I'd love to see one, I think I'll stick around here and deal with our few severe storms a year.

I personally would give anything to be out there chasing
