All is Quiet on the Friday 6/19 Stormfront

The ridge is holding tight, huh? I see no evidence of a cold front to the west either.

Its certainly hot/humid enough for rain. I guess there's no trigger as of 1:30 pm.

I'll check back at 7:00pm for updates.

It seems that most stations are putting this just north of downtown, looks like a nasty event up near the Dayton area and north of there.  We're still in a moderate risk though, so I'm expecting hail and high winds regardless here in Warren county.

Re: All is Quiet on the Friday 6/19 Stormfront

Every one in the Tri-State is still considered to be in the MDT risk.

Wording from the NWS is much more stearn than the local stations. Calling for "numerous severe storms tonight."

Still a good bet for some monster storms tonight. I think the local stations are playing it safe when it comes to the severe weather. They are waiting until the storms get close enough to be able to tell you they are coming and where they are going.

Keep it tuned to local 12, and I'll be doing frequent posts on twitter, if I can stay up that long.

So any idea if we'll be dealing with just a lot of rain and hail or are we looking at possible tornadoes?  From the looks of things, appears to be a lot more rain and heavy straight line winds instead of the shear and rotation.  I know it's still hours out, just trying to get an idea.

    First and Foremost:

Tornado Watch for Fayette and Union Counties in Indiana until 3:00 am.

Secondly. Looks like it will be mainly a straight line wind event with the main line which is currently in Cental Illinois. But... any storms that pop up ahead of the line have the POTENTIAL to become tornadic.

Like i have been saying keep an eye to the sky and an ear to NOAA weather radio or TV.

Re: All is Quiet on the Friday 6/19 Stormfront

Taking a look at the radar out west and there are several storms becoming tornadic in Southern IL and they don't even have a watch out down there, but they will get one here shortly.  The storms out there are moving due east.  So that will take these cells into Southern Indiana and perhaps into the Tri State if they hold together.  Taking a look at radar out of Lincoln, IL, these storms seem to be gaining a little bit of strength.

Also to note, there have been numerous Funnel cloud reports with the cells down in Southern, IL.
