Tea Party Recall

Being a member of the Boomer generation who protested just about everything in the late 60's and early 70's, I have been watching the Tea Parties with interest. I wonder how long it will be before all of the taxpayers in the country revolt and refuse to work and pay taxes. After all, most of our taxes are going to pay for a group of people who contribute nothing to this country but crime, murder and fostering generations of "you owe me" children. On the opposite end, we have presidents, officials and senators who break the law whenever they feel, spend their salaries on things that the average taxpayer will never have. Now, we have a President who went to Harvard, spends is time choosing which private school his daughters should attend, and choosing the proper pet. Meanwhile, people who have worked all their lives and paid taxes are losing their homes, their retirement income and their faith in this country. What has happened to the values that used to keep this country strong? Girls pose naked for their teenage boyfriends, teen sex is rampant in all levels of society, women have one baby after another without the benefit of marriage, knowing that neither they nor the father will be able to give that child a proper home, meals, education or moral values. This is such a repeat of what happened to the great civilizations of Rome and France. Maybe people have forgotten how Marie Antoinette responded when she was told that there was no bread to feed the people. She said, "let them eat cake." I hate to see what used to a great country fall into disrepair. But I hope that someone takes the reins and tells the taxpayers to stop paying taxes until we get heard!!! Hey, government, you can't fly fancy airplanes or go to great resorts or live in million dollar mansions or send your kids to fancy private schools if we don't foot the bill. So, maybe you better start listening to the people who are paying your salary and stop giving money to the people who have no intention of ever contributing anything!!!

Truck Drivers are Getting Rude

Ever since Ohio put those signs up that tell you to give more space to truckers and put out the commercial that's says mess with a truck you loose. I have seen more trucks cut off cars, one forced me into the berm. It seems that those signs gave truckers the right of way. dont get me wrong I think we do need to give them more room because of there size and weight. WE ALL NEED TO SHARE THE ROAD.

Children Fight Back Against Speeders

we would like to Rave unlike most people. Last Saturday (June 23rd) my daughter and my nephew were riding their bikes on the other side of our street. Our side does not have sidewalks. We live on a city block that is right off of Hamilton-Trenton Road on Pierson road. People treat our small block like a drag strip with some going at least 65 to either a stop sign or a railroad crossing.

My husband Duane and I were working on some casing for our new front window and they both came in and asked for cardboard, markers and tape. "Why?" we asked. They wanted to make signs to make people slow down. And the more excited they got the more ideas they got. At first they taped them to their backs and wore them while riding their bikes. Then they got a little aggressive and started picketing up and down the sidewalk in front of my mother in laws house chanting "Save our lives! Drive 25!" to every car that passed going too fast.

A lot of them slowed down but then again some so called adults hurled insults at these two and sometimes three little kids that were merely pointing out our speed limit to them. One even went so far as to give my daughter and nephew the finger. But despite all of this they stayed out there for 4 hours or more. They even got a promise from a Trenton Police Officer that he would personally start patrolling our street more on his shifts and the Middletown Journal came out and took their pictures for the Sunday paper.

I just thought that that was some idea for an 11 and 8 year old to come up all on their own. I just wanted both of them and every one else to know how proud we all are of them.

Senate Bill 68 - Discriminates against NKY Single People, why isn't it on the news?!!!

Kentucky has a bill going through the Senate that will make it illegal for a Single person to adopt, foster or be a relative caregiver if he or she is living with someone. Yes. "co-habitating" with someone. The FIRST part of the act says that KY believes that in order to foster, adopt or be a relative caregiver, you should be married. You cannot co-habitate with someone (anyone) and be a foster/adopt/caregiver. WHAT? That is what it says. (I have posted it below)

It is only in the subsequent paragraphs that it says if you are "in a sexual relationship with the person you are co-habitating with"... then you will not be allowed to adopt, foster or be a relative caregiver.

Let's think about what this means.
1. If you are a Single Adult Female who wants to adopt or foster a child, or be a relative caregiver to a family member... and you have been living with your boyfriend for 10 years (common law marriage), currently, you would be allowed to adopt/foster/caregive. Under this new law, you would be banned.

2. If you are a Single Adult who is living with your Adult Sibling (non-sexual relationship), under the first part of this law, you would not be allowed to adopt/foster/caregive.

3. If you are a single adult who is living with your significant other (sexual relationship) for any length of time, you cannot adopt/foster/caregive.

Currently, ALL adults would go through a throrough investigation by the Social Worker and Adoption Agency to adopt or foster. So, in any of the above situations, you could currently build your family that way. I did. Though, I'm single, if I had had someone living with me, he would have gone through just as stringent measures as I did. That is the right way. THIS LAW IS NOT.

This includes KINSHIP adoption.

What's next? Taking ALL SINGLE person ADULT rights away? This is complete and utter discrimination and needs to be stopped. It was aimed (supposedly) at the GLBT. But it is absolutely not worded that way. It includes ALL, and I do mean ALL single adult persons who might be in a relationship with another adult, sexual or otherwise, so long as they are co-habitating.

I beg and implore of you to write to your senator and to every single senator in the State of Kentucky to get this VOTED NO. We need to take our rights back. If an agency wishes to discriminate against single people, that is one thing... but not the STATE. This is not a Kentucky State issue.

AN ACT relating to the welfare of adopted and foster care children.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

SECTION seq [section]1. A NEW SECTION OF KRS CHAPTER 199 IS CREATED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: https://secure.kentucky.gov/billwatch/BillWatchHomePage.aspx

(1) The Kentucky General Assembly finds that it is in the best interest of a child in need of adoption or foster care to be reared or placed in a home in which the adoptive or foster parents are not cohabiting outside of a marriage that is legally valid in Kentucky.

(2) An applicant shall not be approved to provide foster care or relative caregiver services to a child, or approved to receive a child for adoption if the applicant is cohabiting with a sexual partner outside of a marriage that is legally valid in Kentucky.

Create a new section of KRS Chapter 199 to prohibit the approval of foster care, relative caregiver services, or adoption of a child by an applicant who is cohabiting with a sexual partner outside of a marriage that is legally valid in Kentucky; create the short title "The Child Welfare Adoption Act"; exempt children placed for adoption prior to the effective date of this Act; amend KRS 199.470 to conform.

Again, PLEASE, please, please write your Senator. Get involved. Do something. Help protect our rights as Single people.

What's wrong with broadcasts lately?

I've been noticing a lot of jitter in Local 12's broadcasts lately....not only regular programming, but also on the news. Today was particularly bad at the start of the noon news broadcast when John was doing the weather. Seemed as though he was repeating himself at times, and the picture was pixeling in and out, jumping around. Is this a problem with the new digital format?

$700 Billion bailout solution

Her's my opinion on the solution.

There are approximatly 305 million people in the U.S., so why not give each person $1 million and save the country $699,795,000,000. This would bail out just about every American and not just the already rich CEO's. Save foreclosures, pay off all debts, live comfortably, what normal person wouldn't want this. $305 million vs. $700 billion, it doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

seat belts

I think as long as your relatives can sue someone if you die, you should have to wear a seat belt. I normally don't believe in government involvement, but this has to do with wether you can hold others responsible for you notwearing a belt. A perfect example is the teen in court for vehicular homocide because his friends weren't wearing one.

Isn't it enough that we have to deal with telemarketers hawking low-interest mortgage offers, digital telephone services & inviting us to switch our existing credit card balances to new banks?! Why must we be inundated with POLITICAL solicitation calls as well?

If there is one thing that I wish ALL campaign workers (paid or volunteer) would realize, it would be that the quickest way to get me to NOT VOTE for their candidate is to call my home telephone or knock on my door. Do we need a national NO CALL list for politicians as well? Would it even help?

I have a sign clearly posted next to my front door that says "NO SOLICITING". Now granted, like all signs, it is ignored by most 'door to door' type persons, but it does allow me to be firm in telling them to politely "get lost". It seems to be a magnet for bright-eyed campaign volunteers.....

I suppose I'll have to put one up that reads: "NO Peddlars, Campaigners, Grass Mowers or Purveyors of The Good Word....Friends & Family Welcome."

My point is: LEAVE ME ALONE! I can make up my own mind who to vote for, without Joe the plumber leaving more messages on my phone than an insecure boyfriend the morning after the prom.

Blackout causes financial hardship

This blackout has been very hard for my family. We just received our electric back on Sunday morning but prior to getting our electric we have lost nearly $600 due to loss of electric at my husbands 2nd job and increased gas for the generator and food expenses. All of this would not be nearly as hard if we did not have a son leaving for Iraq with the Marines within the next 10-14 days. The loss of $600 means that we will probably not get to see our son off to Iraq. I know for other families it may mean something much more serious, however it is very hard to know that your child is going to war and you will not get to see him before he leaves.

me and my husband went down to the fireworks this weekend and my husband and some friends got into and altercation the police then threw them out and as I was leaving said some very nasty things refused to give me his name where he was from or his badge number my husband then went back up to the bar and wanted to know the officers name and wanted to speak with him then the other officer threatened to tase him so my husband then turned around up the dock to leave and the officer proceeded to tase him anyways not once but four times as my husband layed on the ground the four officers proceded to kick him and then pepper spray him due to this my husband had to go to the hospital and is not able to work. I was so scared for my life and my husbands it was the worst experience I have ever been through!! You would have thought my husband did something terribly wrong when all he wanted to know is the officers name and to speak with him!! The police officers after I was screaming telling them he has medical conditions told me they did not give a %%%% and they did not care what happened to him and made me sit out on the road with our friends while they were harming my husband there is reallly something wrong with our system when police officers can do this to people and get a slap on the hand someone please help me with this my email address is rodbustinshnake@yahoo.com if anyone knows what I can do I would appreciate it something has to be done before this happens to anyone else............

I have to voice my opinion of the new advertisement about education in this country. I agree they have a right to state their opinions and facts they believe to be true, but in doing so they don't have to insult me and every veteran that paid for that right by putting our American flag lowest on the pole. Our flag should always be on top of those other flags, some of those flags wouldn't be flying without our soliders who kept their countries safe from invaders. I have had enough of American bashing and an unappreciative citizens, if you aren't happy with your local educational system,get involved and volunteer to help at schools. I have, and it does make a difference. If you don't want to do that, then maybe you need to move to one of those other countries and let them take care of you! Your child's education is only as good as the effort you and your children put into it. The resources this country has to offer that are free are staggering, just go to the library once in awhile. The trouble with this country right now is too many people want the government to take care of them, when it's our responsibility to take care of ourselves. Have a good day and thank a veteran for it next time you see one, they have paid dearly for it.

Channel 12's "HD" broadcast?

When is channel 12 going to start broadcasting in real HD? I see that they broadcast that they are transmitting in 1080i 16x9, but the picture is more like 480p?
Channel 9 broadcasts in 720p 16x9 and the picture is awesome and fills my tv screen.
Why is it that channel 12 isn't up to it yet? Are there plans too? I prefer channel 12 news, but I love the picture on channel 9.
Other channels like PBS, Channel 9 broadcast in the higher picture quality but transmit their actual broadcast signal, like 720 p 16x 9, or 1080i 16x9 and both fill the screen.
Why is it that channel 12's transmitted/supposed 1080i 16x9 picture looks more like 480p?
Can someone explain this?

Criminal Misuse of technology

This was posted on Yahoo today August 12, 2008. There is a gathering in Las Vegas called DefCon. They are a group of hackers. Can you believe that they conducted a seminar on how to remotely disable a person's pacemaker.? This is real scary. This is really criminal activity. I do not like this at all. For all the people with pacemakers, this would put them in harm's way. I wonder what the LVPD and law enforcement there are doing about these kind of people. Some people should not be able to have access to technology if they participate in criminal activity!

The story last night on the Mt Orab cemetary. I wanted to shake the sh** out of that woman! She kept talking about the removed "momentoes." The word is mementoes, lady, only one o in it at the end of the word. It is pronounced MUH-mento. A momento. is a Spanish moment. Or maybe even minute; it's been a long time since I knew that. Granted, a MUH-mento is something to capture a moment, but the words are:

2 different words

2 different meanings

2 different languages.

Educated newspeople SHOULD know the difference.

Except, oh yeah, education doesn't mean learning anything these days, does it? NUt that's a whole 'nother rant.
