No punishment??!!

Though my heart goes out to the family and Ms. Slaby, I feel strongly that the Clermont County Prosecutor has made a VERY BAD decision in not bringing charges against this mother. What message is this sending out to the community? Certainly Ms. Slaby did not intend for this outcome when she strapped her toddler into her car seat that morning....but how can you forget...how busy does a person have to be... to forget for eight hours...that you left your child locked in a dangerously hot car? My first instinct upon initially hearing about this tragedy was outrage! Then I felt sympathy and pity for the family, but now I'm back to outrage! I don't believe Ms. Slaby should get off scott free, there are lesser charges that can be applied...certainly child endangerment at the very least. What about that poor mother a few weeks ago, working multiple jobs while her husband went back to school for his degree? She was so tired she fell asleep and her two children left the house only to be discovered by police a short distance from their home? And Mom had called the police to report them missing....she was taken away in handcuffs...and her children had not suffered any misfortune! I don't know what good would come of Ms. Slaby being sent to prison (I believe she has another child at home) but there must be some punishment that could be metted out that would at least send a better message to other parents in the community. Have her do communtiy service, donate to a worthy childrens cause, SOMETHING! I think (and fear) the prosecutor has opened Pandora's Box with his decision to take no action.

I can't say I'm surprised by the news today that Slaby will not be returning to her former position as the vice principal at Glen Este, now that the elections are over and the school levy has passed. And I shouldn't be surprised that the financial terms of the agreement are being "hushed up" just like so many other details of this case. But once again, as a West Clermont county tax payer, I feel like I've been duped by those making these momentous decisions. Can you say "PAY OFF?" And to those of you out there defending this whole situation, don't tell me money doesn't talk, because right now it's shouting LOUD AND CLEAR! This is just one more example of "not what you know, but who you know" and Ms. Slaby sure knows all the right people. But apparently the same does not apply across the river in Kentucky; they know the difference between right and wrong down there. Don White, you'd never cut it in Kentucky!

Today, Clermont County Prosecutor Don White told Local 12 that he does not plan to file criminal charges against Brenda Nesselroad-Slaby. Slaby's 2 year old daughter Cecilia died when Brenda forgot and left her in a hot car at the Glen Este Middle School on August 23rd. The prosecutor says the facts of the case and the law dictate that Cecilia's death was an accident but not reckless. What do you think of the decision?

This just happened in West Palm Beach, Fla this past week-end. Mirland Baptiste left her four-year old son in a hot car for over two hours while she went into a nail salon to get her nails done for her wedding later that day. Four-year old Gregory Cesar was left in the car while she went about her business. His little body litterally broiled to death body temp of 108 degrees What in the world is the matter with these people? If your child is too much trouble let someone have him or her that has enough love to share with these little people; they did not ask to be born!

What I think is that what is going on is not right. All the other sick parents that left their children in the car and killed their kids they are all in jail. What the prosecuter on this inncindent is saying is that it was okay she "forgot" her child in the car. How do you forget your child is in the car? Did you not put her in the child seat when you got in, or let me think she did it herself? When you are driving your eyes automatically look in the rearview mirror and you can see your back seat from that mirror. This is a conspirasy is how I feel. Maybe the prosecuter had something to do with it. How could someone actually say this is an accident. I am 16 years old and have enough commen sense to see that this is cleary no accident. Then what gets me is how could she go to get donuts out her car a couple of times and not see her daughter in the car. Why did she go out to her car repeatedly. I think she was going to check on her child to make sure she was still alive but then the last time she came out she saw she was dead. I still will call her a baby killer. I feel she is getting rewarded for what she has done by still getting paid after she qas fired from this job. Her baby suffered if she doesn't have any jail time she should suffer in the out side world. I do not wish death on anyone but I do wish a horrible life for this women. She deserves to spend her life in jail. I feel that we are setting up are justice system up with this one. If more parents leave there child in cars and say that it was an accident do they get the right to walk free just as she did. They should since she did. I think the prosecuter was a pure d--- a--. Yes I said it and I don't care. What heartless person could look at this as an accident. I don't bleive this women one bit. I have had a child and there is no way you can forget your own flesh and blood no matter what. She deserves jail and that just proved me the jusice system is racist and wrong.

I read with great interest in today's paper that several Clermont County incumbents will be challenged in the next election. Two of our three commissioners will have some competition -- so maybe there's hope.

However, I saw that nobody is planning to run against Don White. The Clermont County Prosecutor's office will remain under the control of the same man who let Brenda Slaby walk and messed up the Amy Baker deal.

It's going to be hard to vote White out if nobody is running against him.

How sad.

What sort of witch hunt has this become? Do you all thirst for blood?

She did not choose to leave her child in the car. She cared so incredibly much for your children that she focused on that completely, forgetting a duty that was not of normal routine. It could have been any of us. She is of sound mind and good heart. Is it not enough punishment that she will bear the burden of this?

On the news, I saw signs and protests and ignorance, abundant, and pointed fingers and a certain bloodlust in the eyes of you "adults". And I saw the hearts of innocent children, still welcoming, feeling sypathy for the bereaved who they know and love. You wish terrible things upon her, you choose to wish these things, as it is your violent nature.

What she did was accidental, a mistake that she will thrash herself for throughout the rest of her days, and you all know that whether you admit it or not. We need to let the children speak, the innocent minds that have not been corrupted by the world in which you choose to live. What example do you set by offering this judgement? Hypocrites, all of you. Ignorant hypocrites. Judge not lest ye be judged, dear neighbors. Put down your torches and drop your anger-loaded fists. Get on with your lives. Listen to the purity of your children, and embrace that as your own heart. You fight this to give yourself temporary meaning, but choose your battles, and for which side you fight carefully. Make certain that your stance is solid and just, and that you do not throw stones simply to fulfill your own personal need for conflict.

Tragedy has befallen our neighbor, a just and good-hearted soul. I suggest that you open your feeble, narrow minds, and see with your better senses. Forgiveness is what we need to offer. Redemption. This is what my Lord teaches, and perhaps you should listen.

It is sad to think that tax payers are paying for her to keep her salary and insurance. If this would have been someone else they would have had to pay for their crime. No matter if it was an accident or not, your child is your most important responsibility of all. As a mother of 2 boys, my smallest being almost 2 years old, I could not imagine forgetting where my kids are. Especially, when they are in the back seat. I just cannot believe the injustice in this situation. It was a tragedy but we shouldn't continue to pay for her mistake. You would think that in the position she was in that children would be her main priority and not be forgotten, especially her own.

I do find it interesting that Slaby killed her daughter in a way that comes closest to the Christian version of Hell. Maybe we're not dealing with a Satanist, but with an ultra-Christian fanatic.

Years ago, when I moved back from New York with my 3 cats, I was looking to rent an apartment. I went to investigate the top half of a duplex, and met the owner downstairs.

She appeared normal, but when she invited me in, I was rather shocked to see every kind of effigy of Christ imaginable - bloody crucifixes, giant black-light wall hangings on black velvet (Christ as Elvis?), creepy pictures whose eyes followed you everywhere. I had to fight with myself not to run out. I should have.

The conversation went along awkwardly but OK until I mentioned my cats. The woman turned ashen and shrill and started telling me that I was being possessed by them. She began pleading, then demanding, that I call someone and have them "disposed of" while I was not at home, so that they couldn't save themselves by "casting another spell" on me. I had to "make the Christian choice" and "save myself" while I was outside their sphere of influence. Her husband just sat silently the whole time. I couldn't get a read on him-- if he believed her or had just become worn down by years of total insanity.

I politely excused myself and drove home to my cat family as quickly as the speed limit allowed.

I have a theory that people can take any religion and twist it until it fits their belief system. First comes the psychosis, then the religion is simply altered to fit the bill - like taking in a dress or shortening pants to fit the form already there. I'm not sure it even matters WHICH religion they start with - no matter which icons they use, it all turns very creepy when they project their psychosis outward.

That means, really, that we are your teachers. You should treat us with a little bit more respect. Take the cotton out of your ears and put it in your mouth, so that you may listen to the wisdom of the others.

Cybercat, voodoo and santeria are totally different animals. Their beliefs are much more prominent in areas where Haitains and others from the Carribeans would have settled. They are a blending of ancient African beliefs, native (to the Antilles, etc) beliefs, and have to some extent been blended with Catholicism. And that's about all I know.

Reading about the first and subsequent drafts of the story really, really shows how analogous the story is to the Slaby incident.

As far as the word "witch" goes, you've got to look at the history of way we use the word. Note that the story dates back to 1810, after society adopted a rather negative definition of the word "witch." The word "witch" it always have such negative connotations. The root of the word is "wicce," meaning to bend or shape. The original witches were healers, herbalists, midwives. The rise of Christianity gave way to the change in meaning of the word, from something with positive connotations to something with negative connotations, as the Christians attempted to eradicate paganism (unsuccessfully, I might add... <g>)

The portrayal of witches as ugly old hags is basically propaganda. It's anti-pagan, and it's anti-woman: Some day we're all going to be old crones. Does that have to be villified? But consider how God is portrayed: God is an old, wise, bearded man or a handsome, dashing young (sadly, celibate) man.

You wouldn't find that image in a matriarchal society. Only in patriarchies do we find ugly old women and handsome wise old men. Or in households where the ugly old woman has an awful lot of money.

I knew Wiccans were more in tune to Earth. I've heard that "Mother Nature" was an easier pill to swallow for alot of men, but still she is Mother God. I've read where female deities frightened many men, and alot of what you mentioned in your post.

I smile when I think about how some don't get that alot of Christian "rituals" are thinly veiled Pagan rites, and were meshed in order to facilitate a relationship between early Christians and Pagans.

One thing I always remember reading about is why people think "Witches" ride broomsticks. Early Wiccans would try to teach their cornstalks to grow, and would stand out in the field, jumping up and down with a corn stalk broomstick, showing the cornstalks how to grow taller.

I think that is sweet and kind of funny, but in a nice way.

Getting back to the topic at hand, after reading that link you provided, I didn't realize how right I was in my analogy. I wonder how many people know the true story that Hansel & Gretel were based on.

May also provide answers why BNS's husband would go along with her killing her young child.

There was a movie some time back (with Martin Sheen?) about Santeria. Can't remember the name offhand, but I do remember the wife was electrocuted by a malfunctioning coffeemaker in the first 15 minutes.

The new girlfriend ends up sacrificing goats. Dead goats piled up with all sorts of rotting fruit and honey. Scary movie, but you never know about Hollywood's version of this things. Santeria was basically portrayed as Catholicism bent to conform to voodoo. They worshiped icons of a Black Madonna.

Religions that worship statues and pictures have always bothered me. Spirituality should be the direct connection from your soul to your God. No idolatry necessary. I guess the inner child needs the cartoon version of religion.

Speaking of witch/stepmothers - how about Snow White? That was the stepmother/queen turned evil old "witch," too. Lots of Freudian stuff going on in those old Fairy Tales, eh? The new wife has to remove all memories of the first wife, including kids. Or are the kids themselves her rivals for the husbands love? In some of these old tales, she orders the father to kill the child, and when he can't she does it herself. Which brings us back to Slaby.

By the way, I stumbled across an interesting bit of information recently -- Gary Kuyper was sentenced to 60 days on July 3, 2007 for soliciting a prostitute. Depending upon how many days he actually served, he may have been in jail on Aug 23. The jails do have revolving doors, however, so he may have been let out early.

I looked up Martin Sheen in IMDb, didn't get much of a hit there, so I did a google search on Santeria and movies. Is this it?

The Believers (1987)

Ah, the '80s. How could anyone forget the wacky trends of the era: Izod shirts, Rubiks Cubes, ALF, and, of course, voodoo. How fondly I recall Saturday nights with the family gathered around the campfire, Grandpa gutting a virgin, Aunt Martha leading the zombies in a three-part round of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat," and little Susie always had to have the last goat's heart. Good times. If you weren't lucky enough to experience it all first-hand, though, Hollywood decided in the late '80s to give you a taste on the big screen. Three major motion pictures revolving around voodoo came out within a two-year span -- The Believers, Angel Heart, and The Serpent and the Rainbow -- all set in different locales and all with their own unique (and all quite good) spin on the favorite religion of horror fans everywhere. The Believers is probably the most realistic of the bunch. Set in New York City, it actually focuses on the Afro-Latino santeria religion and what's termed vaguely as "black magic", or "brujeria". Martin Sheen stars as police psychologist Cal Jamison, who gets involved with a child serial killer case and uncovers a cult controlled by Sudanese black magic man Palo (Malick Bowens). Apparently, killing a child gives you great power and makes all your dreams come true. Wish I'd know that sooner. Palo is a truly creepy bad guy who not only sports a kung-fu grip, but also retractable pupils and, in one of the most skin-crawling moments you'll ever see on film, the ability to make spiders erupt from your pimples. I'd like to see Clearasil fix that. Cal's lawyer, Marty (Richard Masur), meanwhile does such a thankless job of dying while trying to save Cal's kid from the cult, you wonder how a black actor didn't get that role.

I asked the question several weeks ago whether people were truly interested in justice, or if this is just some sort of sick mob seeking to take out its wrath on someone. Alas, I now know.

Some have wondered why I have been participating in this forum. As a Christian I had hoped people would take the time to actually think. It's not that it's wrong to think justice was not served. There are good arguements on both sides. Maybe the prosecutor did not act correctly, maybe he did.

I have no interest in debating the death of Cecelia or Ms. Slaby's role in it. The whole thing is horrible. What troubles me most, however, is that so many seem to think a proper response is character assasination, lies, inuendo, and hate. Does this honor anything? Will it bring Cecelia back?

The very foundation of Christianity is grace. Undeserved love and undeserved foregiveness. This does not mean a person should be excused. They should be held accountable and punished if appropriate. However, our very form of government is constructed to protect the accused against a mob seeking revenge or a government seeking to abuse its power. Innocent until proven guilty is what our entire system of justice is based on. It is by design more difficult to prove guilt than innocence in order to protect the rights of the accused and try to insure that guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Many, not all, of the threads in this forum have been written by highly emotional individuals lashing out at Slaby with little regard for the facts or civility. Some have offered very cohesive arguements in favor of prosecution or the improper conduct of the prosecutor. Unfortunately, the posts have more often been quite sad. While the event understandably generated emotion, the ugliness of many of these posts was appalling. It was the worst side of human nature on parade. Respondents often have piled on, stacking ugliness upon ugliness.

When opposing viewpoints are posted, these people are also slandered and smeared. I have been called every name in the book, and told I should be locked in a hot car, simply for expressing a beleif that we should temper our hatred and show a little mercy so long as no clear guilt is proven. Perhaps it is the nature of an internet discussion, without facial expression or inflections, which causes people to read each post in the worst possible light. I have been amazed at the intense negative reaction to posts meant to inspire hope, mercy, compassion, or love.

In fact, I will admit that I have over-reacted at times to the negativity in this forum and perhaps said things I should not. I sincerely apologize to anyone I may have offended. However, if you have a problem with the Biblical references I quote, you don't have a problem with me. You have a problem with God.

I am not really interested in responding to the multiple posts still out there. Some are quite unfortunate, containing name-calling and smears which are quite sophomoric.

I will always be glad I stood up in this case for what I still beleive to be right. Hate, slander, and lies should not be tolerated in a civilized society.

I would further suggest that Channel 12 evaluate the rules governing its forums. It is wonderful to provide a forum for interaction and discussion. There are good arguements on both sides and it is good to read others' thoughts and participate in the discussions. However, a site which provides a platform to launch hatred, lies, slander, and character assasination should not be tolerated.

US District Atorney letter - I need 500 signatures

I consulted with a lawyer regarding the Slaby case, and was informed that the best bet for getting this looked at is to involve the US District Attorney.

If there enough citizens express concern (I would like to get 500 signatures) apparently the Federal Government will get involved.

I will present the letter in person if we can get enough signatures.

I have contacted 700 WLW Radio regarding this, and I am trying to arrange a live remote at some Clermont County location where people can come and sign this letter.

Wisdom and Care Needed

The current situation where the Kentucky prosecutor was essentially bullied into filing charges against Amy Baker relates to the point I have been trying unsuccessfully to make about Brenda Slaby.

There is currently a lot of speculation that filing charges against Baker in Kentucky may void her plea agreement and could even result in the eventual overturning of the convictions against the Carrols.

As for me, I like having the Carrols in jail. I'm sorry immunity had to be given to Baker to get a conviction. However, this all shows us how important it is to make wise and not emotional decisions when filing charges.

Do we really want the Carrols released? Do we really want some fanciful case presented against Brenda Slaby which won't stand the test of evidence?

Maybe Don White is horribly currupt, or maybe he just knows he has no case. I don't know.

Just a thought.

School Bond Issue

I hate to see the bond issue tied to the matter of Cecilia Slaby. I have voted no ever since WCLS started this issue years ago, and I will continue to vote no because I simply cannot afford to finance their expensive tastes.

If the school budget were subject to public scrutiny, we could find places for them to economize, like these all-paid teacher conferences where they're also paid to take the day off. When I go every year for my continuing professional education courses (CPE), I do so at my own expense. I have to take at least four days off and no one pays for my gas. Teachers/administrators go on the public dime, and get paid for doing it. (Most of the credits they need are available on-line.)

Why does the school year now stretch from August to July? Not a lot of snow days in Southern Ohio. Mostly teacher "conferences?" Entire weeks off at holidays, during which working parents have to make paid arrangements for watching the kids.

I will continue to vote NO simply because I can't afford the increase in my property taxes.

But it's not because of Cecilia. I know that on this issue, the School Board is caught between a rock and the hard place. I do appreciate the fact that the BOE managed to get her onto Third Party Sick Leave and off the payroll. I do think this shows fiscal responsibilty.

I think that the vote to cast to show your dissatisfaction with White and Croswell is against White and Croswell, and their cronies. The School Bond Issue should fail on its own lack of merit.

Hatred and deceipt

There are many definitions of hatred. I would suggest it is alive and well in this forum.

People with screen-names such as eastgatetax, cyberkat, etc. have apparently launched a campaign of religious bigotry and intollerance. I'm not referring to disagreement. That's what these discussion boards are all about. I'm referring to vile, hate filled diatribes which are both ridiculous and frightening. Posts about killing animals, ritual sacrifices, the occult, and then inferring that this is all tied in with Christianity and Brenda Slaby.

See the recent post on the hijacking of baby Cecelia, or recent posts displayed in 'We kill, we slander, we hate, we lie, we die' for examples, and they are many.

I believe that these posts are beginning to border on religious hate speech. Kate from Eastgate Tax, who has been trying to portray herself as a normal American concerned about poor baby Cecelia, is sounding a lot like a deranged devil worshipper who hallucinates a lot. If she ever gets her wish for a federal investigation of the Slaby case, the defense could have a field day with her recent posts.

For all of you who have been used by Kate of Eastgate tax, I feel sorry for you. I'm not certain what her game is, but it apparently has little to do with concern for the death of Cecelia. She apparently gets her jollys from lashing out and ridiculing those with sincerely held religious beliefs. She must be a very miserable person.

There may or may not be a case against Brenda Slaby, but the chances of finding out are dimming for those following this snake oil salesman. Perhaps Kate has such low self-esteem she needs to belittle the Brenda Slabys of the world in order to make herself feel superior to someone.

In the meantime, if the diatribes are allowed to continue outside the realm of what could be considered normal discussions, I would be interested in seeking legal advice on the possibility of prosecuting this hatred criminally, as well as Channel 12 for allowing such hate-filled diatribes to continue.

If you want to worship Satan or dance around like a witch, be my guest. But I will not hate you for it and all I would request is the same type of respect. If you want to discuss it, fine. If you don't, fine. But the hate must stop!!!

Don White's new problem

Whether or not the Slaby case is ever properly investigated could well depend upon the outcome of the new case involving the Bach Buxton Kroger incident of Oct 9.

If "forgetting" becomes some weird, new defense (not actually based in law), then the Federal Government will be forced to step in before it becomes an epidemic across the country. Already, one suspect in Texas and two in Ohio have tried using this defense. And the recent "distraction" defense might be seen as a close cousin.

Don White has three options in the Kroger case:

prosecute, at which time the mother's defense attorney will call Slaby and Croswell to the stand to explain how they got away with it;
decline prosecution, at which time every felon in the country will have their favorite two precedents to site, and we will be inundated with "forgetful" perpetrators;
defer the case to Child Protective Services, and claim that whatever "punishment" CPS gives out is sufficient in this case.

I would assume that with Don White's track record of taking the easy way out (Amy Baker comes to mind) he will probably pick door #3.

I firmly believe that a stronger Prosecutor is needed for Clermont County. One who puts the welfare of the citizens above the consideration of his cronies.

Who is running for election against White? Who is going to step up to the plate and save Clermont County from going down the drain of influence peddling and into the sewer of Tamminy Hall?

Negative vs. Positive

The death of Cecelia was and is horrible. If a crime was commited, it should be investigated and prosecuted.

This incident has brought out the best in a few, and the worst in many others.

Consider this:

When my computer greeted me one morning with what is ominously referred to as "the blue screen of death," I knew it was broken, but I didn’t know how to fix it. I read a little, tried a few things, but finally had to call an expert for help. Knowing that something was wrong was only a small part of the problem; I couldn’t fix it because I didn’t know the right thing to do.

The ordeal reminded me of the many pundits who appear on television news programs. All of them are "experts" at proclaiming what’s wrong, but most are clueless as to what is right.

This happens in relationships as well. In families, churches, and workplaces, nothing gets fixed because we get fixated on what’s wrong. It doesn’t take an expert to know that something is wrong when people quarrel and hurt each other with unkind words and behavior. But it does take an expert to know how to fix the problem.

God revealed to Israel’s prophets not only what was wrong but also what was right: "Cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow" (Isa. 1:16-17).

Cecilia's medical condition

The child would not have died, but would be condemned to a lifetime of miscarriage and pain.

There are now two more small children dead due to an accident. A young 22 y/o mother in Cleveland let her small children drown in the bath tub! Her explaination was the stress of work and school!! OMG! Please! Give me a break! Maybe she just kept up with the Brenda Slaby case and thought: "I'll just say I was stressed out and it will be deemed an accident!" No charges have been filed in this case either! Let's see, I'm beginning to think this will be an easy way for negligent parents to murder their small children and get away with it! Maybe they're just tired of having to care for their small kids. Maybe if they feel their kids interfere with their own lives, they can just snuff them out! They'll just say they're stressed out and everything will be okay! EVEN MURDER! It's okay to murder your kids if you are stressed out or overwhelmed! Just tell the authorites "YOU FORGOT"!!!!! I forgot my young child and they died as a result! "I'm sorry"... YEAH RIGHT! What the hell is wrong with our judicial system????? Are we so wrapped up with politics and money that we have forgot what is most important to us? Our Family comes first! I'm so SICK of reading and seeing this poor lack of judgment! Is this only in the state of Ohio?

The woman makes me ill. I truly believe it should be a state law that SOME women should be sterilized and she's one of them!!! God help any child she decides to give birth to in the future! I live in the district that Brenda Slaby works at and my future children (I'm in the process of adopting) will attend school. If she is successful in keeping her job my kids will not attend that school even if that means we have to move. She can't be trusted with her own kid why would I ever trust her around mine?I hope what she has done contines to haunt her every waking moment and she suffers the rest of her life. It still won't begin to compare how that baby suffered. Just how does a box of donuts become more important to you than your own child? She herself said she couldn't handle the pressures of her job so maybe she doesn't need it!

You show no concern for the child's horrible death. How do you think Cecilia feels, or felt during the day this happened? I think the punishment should be that the parents should be sentenced to death strapped inside of a car the same way they killed their daughter. Lets see how long they can last in the stiffling heat.

AD likes to write alot, in the hope he comes across as superior to everybody who doesn't agree with him. I keep hearing "God will forgive her" but doesn't a person have to repent to be forgiven? Do people have to repent for "accidents" ? Those bleeding hearts don't make any sense to me. I believe Cecelia was murdered by her mother. And by doing it this way, she able to tell everybody it was an accident. And then she calls saying she wants to go back to work right away? A grieving, distraught mother would not be able to do that. This mother has gotten away with murder. Unfortunately, we live in a society where human life has been degraded. When they legalized abortion, they told "mothers" that it was okay to kill their children. And it continues to get worse.

Are we POSITIVE that the little girl wasn't dead BEFORE she was put in the car?

This was a tragic ACCIDENT. It seems that everyone is so willing to be the judge and jury. Nothing a prosecutor can do to this poor lady would ever exceed the fact that she has to live with the fact every day for the rest of her life knowing that because she was too busy she forgot her precious baby in the back seat of her car. Everyone that knows her personally stated that she is a loving mother and lives for her children. I pray that she can find peace and that she is not prosecuted for this horrible accident. Why don't all the people that are so eager to judge her put yourself in her shoes for just 5 minutes. Did you ever forget anyting in your life? I know I do every day.

Although I agree with all of the comments about how horrible of a tragedy this is, I cannot help but wonder where are these people's hearts? It is obvious that this woman has suffered the worst possible punishment ever, the loss of her child. Noone knows what events took place that morning. Was the husband supposed to bring the baby to daycare and at the last minute plans changed? The change of a daily routine accompanied by a hectic day at work could have made her completely forget she forgot to bring the baby somewhere or that she was still in the car. It seems almost impossible to all of us that she would forget the baby, but none of us have been in her shoes and none of us know all of the details. It is clear that the hospitalization of this woman indicates that she is clearly devastated by the tragedy. Lets find out all of the facts before we crucify her. You would want someone to do the same for you.

I get so tired of people being so quick to judge others based on race, economic position, where they live. The hateful things that people have said - "God doesn't forgive murderers" - wrong! He is the only one that truly knows what happened on that sad day. He will forgive Brenda, but the question is will she ever forgive herself? Twenty-Four seven she will relive that day until she is with Cecelia in Heaven. People are letting their mouths run rampid with trash talk and not thinking what it is doing to the father, sister, grandparents, friends that are having to listen and read it! The donuts were not beside Cecelia, they were in the very back of the SUV. Yes, I have trouble understanding how this happened, but it did. Brenda is already in hell - I will be praying for her and her family.

INTENTION! Brenda did not intentionally leave her child in the car. If you intentionally put your child in a dangerous situation, then yes, you should be punished. But to punish someone for a tragic mistake? She is already being punished more than anyone could ever imagine.
