There's a new way for you to share your weather reports and weather pictures and video with Local 12. It's a web interface where you can click on a map of your location and enter your weather report along with any pics or video you have.

Here's the site:

http://www.reportstorms.com/

Once you upload something, this data easily interfaces with our on air system so we can get it on the air quick. To start, just create an account. It's easy and it's free. We hope to eventually create a network of weather spotters all across the Tri-State. Let me know if you have any questions!

John

Since we don't have any huge weather going on right now, I thought I would let our members get a chance to introduce themselves. I guess I'll start!

I've been interested in weather since I was really young. I spent the first 8 years of my life (for the most part) in Anderson Township. I still have pictures of myself as a young child during the blizzard of 1977. In fact, some of the coldest winters on record here in the Tri-State happened when I was a young child. That must've solidified my interest in snow at a young age. At 8 I proclaimed to my family I was going to become a meteorologist someday.

We moved to Union Township in Clermont County when I was 9. That was about the time I started to be very afraid of thunderstorms! That fear eventually turned into a curiosity. I graduated from Glen Este High in Clermont County and went on to study weather at Valparaiso University in northern Indiana just outside of Chicago. I earned a B.S. in meteorology from there and actually had no intention of going into TV weather. I wanted to work for the National Weather Service or go to graduate school. It was about this time I was offered an internship at WXIX and took it. When I was there I decided I liked TV and wanted to give it a try.

I landed my first job in the Quad Cities out in Illinois/Iowa and covered some major weather events. Most notably was a big blizzard that paralyzed parts of the Midwest. I sent a few of my tapes from this event to the American Meteorological Society and they liked my coverage enough to award me their Seal of Approval in 1999. From the Quad Cities, I went onto North Carolina where I had my first run-ins with hurricanes. In fact, I was on air during hurricane Floyd in 1999 which turned out to be the biggest natural disaster in NC state history. Seeing entire towns under water and people losing everything they owned (and even their lives) really had a huge impact on me.

From NC, I went onto New Orleans. I was there for about 2.5 years. My tenure in New Orleans ended with the approach of Hurricane Katrina. I was on the air for 12 hours straight the Saturday before it hit when my wife called to tell me she was in labor with our first child. So, during what was likely the biggest point of my career, I had to walk away for what was now the biggest moment in my life. My son was born 24 hours before the storm hit and we decided to evacuate with him when he was just 16 hours old. Our home was damaged by the storm and my wife’s place of employment was a total loss, so we decided it would be best (after going through that) to return closer to family. Since I am from the area and my wife is from Indiana, we always wanted to come back here. After leaving New Orleans, I found out there was a job opening here and the rest is history. It’s so cool to be working with Tim and Steve since I practically grew up watching them do weather on TV. I never thought I would ever be able to come back home, but I am glad I was able to.

Two other cool things of note: My birthday coincides with National Weather Person’s day in February. Another neat thing is that I was packing up my home in Louisiana when I came across an essay I wrote in the 6th grade at Brantner Elementary in Mt. Carmel. The assignment was to write about your greatest dream in life. I wrote that my greatest dream was to become a meteorologist and to help warn people in a large city about a horrible hurricane and help to save their lives. Little did I know that would someday become a reality.

Anyway, I’m glad everyone joined this forum and I hope it will become a place where we can all discuss something I have loved since I was a child. I’d love to hear a little about everyone else on here.

I'd love to know! ♥HS♥
Highest Cincinnati emperatures

Where can I find a file/location of the highest daily Cincinnati temperatures for the last 30 days?

weekend cooldown

The temperatures are gonna be in the low 70's.It' a good change considering all the heat that we have had.Up for discussion..........

Bad weather approaching

So how bad of storms are we looking at for tonight?
