    Ohio River- speed of current?

I will be doing the Inaugural Louisville Ironman in August of this year. They just released the maps of where we will be swimming....1.4 miles UP the Ohio River then back downstream 1.4 miles.  Can Anyone tell me the average speed of the Ohio River in MPH before the Locks in Louisville?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I wanted to say, I hope your wearing a life jacket. Are you concerned about undertows, I hear they are pretty strong. good luck!

You can always try the River Forecast Center:  http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/ohrfc/

    Down at Louisville:  http://www.crh.noaa.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=lmk&gage=mluk2

    Hope those help.

    Thanks but, No

Those sites, along with every other site that I could find, only give the "Volume" of water or the Cubic Feet per second. Which can not be converted into "MPH". But thanks for the info.
