It's amazing how nobody says anything about cool mornings and hot afternoons and bouts of rain! Winter must be the time for internet activity and I guess all the snow whiners have somehow resigned themselves to the fact that no more snow is due for a little while now!

Uh huh...it's quiet in here.  We've tried to generate discussion, but with no luck. We'll keep trying though...

Hello and good morning to all of the weather watchers out there!

I am riding in the TOSRV this weekend, it is a bicycle ride from columbus to portsmouth on saturday and back on sunday. I would like to know how far in advance the winds can be predicted? Or maybe I can place an order, I would like to see winds out of the north at 20mph on saturday and winds out of the south at 20 mph or greater on sunday  : )   No seriously now how far can they be predicted and where can I get that info? I am an avid model plane pilot, kite flyer, sailor and bike rider and the wind plays a huge roll in my hobbies. The local weather somtimes neglects to predict wind speed and direction very far out, is this because it is unpredictable?

Any help would be greatly appreciated by myself and 2999 other cyclists this weekend.

I like the snow but I wouldn't consider myself a "snow whiner"!  I'm waiting on it to get hot enough to warm up the pool now.  With the rain and chilly temps it isn't happening so far.

I'm a ham radio operator, the worlds largest ham radio convention (Hamvention) was held this weekend at the Hara Arena near Dayton. Every ham that attends knows - from previous experiance - that it will; rain, snow, sleet, hail, 75mph winds, microburst, flash flood, or be 90 degrees in the shade on Hamvention weekend.

Hamvention is over for another year, and now we will have nice weather.

 

I heard that was an awesome convention...buddy of mine went.

Yeah, the big weather story has been all the excess rainfall.  Despite that, we managed a lot of dry weather this weekend...and I'm not complaining..

WOO HOO!! Thanks John for the AWESOME forecast for the holiday weekend (okay guys, I know that John is not personally responsible for the weather, but hey just having a little fun here).  I have waited all winter for the arrival of spring and while I am glad to see rain (especially after last year) I can honestly say that I am glad to see a stretch of dry, very warm weather come this way.  John, do you have any long term forecast for the summer months?  I wonder if there will be another year of drought this year or if we will be about normal. Any ideas?

Any good weather is because of me...any bad weather is all Tim's fault. :-)

The 3 month outlook for "June, July, August" is calling for temperatures at or slightly below average and rainfall around average according to the Climate Prediction Center.

The pool may be 89 degrees, but those stiff winds out of the north are down right COLD!

I live on the Northwest side of Hamilton County and so far I have seen only ONE cicada shell. I was hoping to see more of the little creatures buzzing around, but I guess they have invaded the east side of the county. I know we had some nasty thunderstorms roll through the area last night, especially Butler and Warren counties, but here in Colerain Township we didnt get a drop of rain. At least I didnt hear any storms. But summer isnt here yet, so there is still a chance for a good thunderstorm at night. Makes me sleep better as long as it is not too severe!  Hope more people start visiting this forum and getting some interesting discussions going.  Now that spring is here, I guess I will have to change my name!
