in december, my husband and i rescued an abused, neglected, and malnurtured 5 year old boxer. she initially weighed 40 pounds when we got her and was so beat up and underfed, she could barely walk. she has since gained 15 pounds within the past six months, and is doing great. she is really an awesome dog and does so well with our two year old beagle. she is my little protector. we recently found out though that she has heartworms and this can definately be fatal if not treated. has anyone ever went through this with their dog? she has already been through so much and was given a second chance at her life, and i hate for her to have to go through this....please help
