Have a Heart and a little Patience please...

My brother is an insurance claims adjuster and they usually get about 5-6 claims per day on average. The past few days that number has rose to around 300. They have been dealing with power outages, network outages as well. They also have customers in Galvaston and other areas where people have lost everything. They are working 12 hours a day 7 days a week. Most people are understanding of the situations, others are not and feel it their duty to call the insurance adjuster to be extremely rude to the point of name calling and actually think that this is going to make their claim process any faster. I know this is a very stressful time. I have damage to my home as well, but I am grateful that my family is safe and pray for the ones who have lost so much. Families in Texas and Louisiana, my heart goes out to you and my damages are nothing compared to yours. People please be kind to others. People do care and they are out there working harder than you will ever know to help. they can only do so much so fast and patience during this time of crisis can go a long way. Be kind to one another.

Great post.  I just hope the insurance companies will bring in other adjusters from outside the region to help take the load off people like your brother.  That's usually what happens.

    Hi Penny,

Well, my heart goes out to all of those who have to deal with the damages of this storm! I was also affected as well. I almost lost one of my cars, luckily the tree fell right behind it and not on top. I have giant branches on top of my house, but I can't see any holes in  my roof yet. My power was out for 2 days, but Duke has finally got power to most of my town here in Batavia. I know they are working hard 24 hours to get everyone's power back on. It's slowly getting  back to normal. My insurance company says they will send an adjuster as soon as they can. I'm okay with that as long as my roof doesn't start leaking. We will need to find another place to stay otherwise. I agree that we all need to be patient. No need to be rude or nasty to those trying to help us out. I know they're doing they best they can! We should be grateful we didn't sustain the same damages Texas and Louisiana had! This storm was minor compared to that!

Would you like to have a huge tarp that would cover your roof? I have a tarp that is bigger than a swimming pool cover from when I put a new roof on the house a couple of years ago. I'm just up the road behind the Eastgate Kroger. 752-3722 Kate.

I agree with that.  Everyone with claims, must realize they are not the only ones with the claims and everyone else feels that their claim is just as important as another's.  Instead of attacking those who aren't helping fast enough we need to pray for those who have lost more than us.

I just finished watching part of the news and noticed the Breaking News at the bottom stating that that Duke employees will be working 16 hours on and 8 hours off.  My family has been without power since 2pm Sunday, when Ike hit.  Am I frustrated? Sure! But my family is safe, my home is without damage.  So, I lost some food, will my budget be affected SURE! but I am thinking of the safety of those Duke employees.  That is WAY TOO LONG to be on a job, especially with the type of stress they are under now.  Please pray for these Duke employees and pray for their safety as they try to restore power to all of us.  And be patient.  We will talk about this with our grandchildren one day, and shouldn't our children see adults in their lives respecting  others as we want them to do.....

    Kate,

Thanks so much for offering the tarp! Luckily, I only lost a few shingles and there are no holes in my roof! My insurance company sent an adjuster yesterday and they will repair the damage. All is well, except for a large tree branch that needs to be chain sawed into smaller pieces; Otherwise, it will be impossible to remove it from my yard. My friends and neighbors have been so helpful! This is the time we all need to help each other! THANKS!
