Sept. 21, 2008- Jewish Story Flubs

Paula T. butchered several words in the story on Chabad at Kroger this evening.
Shofar, Rosh Hashanah and Chabad were pronounced incorrectly. When I worked at a small daily years ago, the first thing I was told that it's absolutely imperative to spell words correctly and to pronounce them correctly. Not pronouncing words correctly shows your bias. Plus, it's just professional.
I would really appreciate it if in the future words that are 'ethnic' sounding be pronounced correctly. It's absolutely integral to being seen as a decent news source.

I agree with AhappyLawyer.  What he suggests is merely common courtesy and respect of another’s faith.

Perhaps others will have a hard time accepting this affable criticism after the Jews (through the ACLU) have struck our God and our Bible from of our public schools and buildings.  This would be analogous to us going to Israel and removing YHWH and the Torah from Israeli public places.  I understand the Jewish fear of Christianity due to the Crusades and Inquisitions, compliments of Catholicism.  However, we are (were?) a Christian nation not a Catholic one and this is not Rome!

I don’t mean to criticize the Jewish people as I have the utmost respect and admiration for their history and people.  They are, after all, the only faith that keeps God’s weekly Sabbath and yearly feasts.  God did NOT bless and make Holy any other day of the week other then Friday Sunset to Saturday Sunset.  Nor has He sanctified or ordained any of the Christian holidays.  Christ and the apostles all held to these ‘Jewish’ days!  As far as Christmas is concerned, can anyone really believe that shepherds were sleeping in the fields in December in Israel?

I do wish the user had chosen his name a bit more carefully.  Posting that criticism with the word ‘lawyer’ in his handle almost sounds threatening.

I’m sure Paula meant no harm.  She may have ‘butchered’ a few words, but thank YHWH she didn’t ‘butcher’ your God from Israeli public places!
