This isn't weather related really, just an observation..John Gumm wasn't on today...is he on vacation, or whet?  When can we expect him back on tv?

How often do we see inclement weather on Independence Day?

I must say the weather gurus totally missed yesterday.   I mean, how do you make the leap from scattered minimal chances for showers and a pop-up t-staorm to the severe storms the tri-state saw yesterday?  Just goes to show how fickle Mother  Nature can be!

It seems to me while sirens no doubt provide a great public service to the community, many are antiquated and the system may be long overdo for an overhaul.  It also seems the general public needs a little more education as to the difference between watches and warnings and when does one such warning warrant the sounding of the sirens. ...

My golden rule is do (say) unto others as you would have them do (say) unto you.  I think it applies herein too.

Hey Treb..we  had 10 inches of snow in florence last night...Did you receive any?? LOL

One more for James....  I've heard several people tell me the old rule of thumb about not planting tender vegetation before Mother's Day, i.e. the middle of May.  So what's the record for the latest frost/freeze to hit the tri-sate?

Thanks James.  Very interesting stats.  My grandpa climbed the steps of the Immaculata for 40 + years, never missing a year. This would ahve been  from the late 30's to the 1970's.  He had some really crappy weather those decades.
